The primary goal of the Cam and Bear Fund for adventure is to provide young people with the opportunities to experience adventures of their own. The fund will primarily be aimed at supporting disadvantaged young people who may not normally have the means or opportunity to participate in outdoor activities like hiking, climbing and skiing, be it through school Duke of Edinburgh award schemes, Outward bound courses or clubs and associations.

As a result of encouraging young people to get outdoors to have their own adventures, it is our hope to improve their health and wellbeing, expand their world view, develop an appreciation for our natural environment and maybe, even create a life long passion for outdoor sports and activities.

As part of our campaign we will give participants an Adventure band (Andy Band). These bands are significant to the charity as they were originally given to Andrew’s friends and family with the idea that they would encourage people to get out into the world and share their adventures through social media with the #Andyband. It is our hope that those that are helped by the charity will also share their adventures with the community using their own #Andyband.

Currently the charity is operating as a grant system so that children of families with financial struggles will be able to apply for funds to help them for example; participate in the Duke of Edinburgh scheme, go on a school skiing trip, or participate in some other adventure. However we are hoping that as the charity grows, we will be able to run our own trips, working in conjunction with schools to take groups of young people all over the UK and perhaps even abroad, teaching them to surf, climb or ski.
